    1. Broth isn’t an every day superfood for all of us. It doesn’t contain significant amounts of minerals (not a calcium replacement like many people claim), and is a high histamine food so should be avoided by those with a high histamine load and those in an acute allergy flare. It’s a great addition to most diets but is a little too heavily emphasized as a ‘have to’ food for modern traditional diets.

We have never really enjoyed having it on a regular basis, so I started listening to my instincts before I learned why we don’t crave it too often. We usually have it a couple of times a month, but I don’t worry when we aren’t in the mood.

  1. ok Im confused now. I follow so many health blogs (which could be the problem ha!ha!) and I love them all and have learned so much. Most of the blogs tend to be on the same page about most issues so therefore that is a relief. At the same time, there are a few things that you get a different opinion from everyone so then I get confused and overwhelmed about what the best thing to do it is. I am working on gut healing with my son who has multiple food allergies as well as severe eczema. I thought bone broth was supposed to be healing for the gut but I don’t want to give it to him if it is a high histamine food because he already has an overload of that. I have been trying to add more gelatin to his diet but have not done the bone broth yet but was planning to start. Help! Its hard to figure out what to do. I am not complaining because I really appreciate all these sites and all your stories and they are so helpful but at the same time I get overwhelmed because I feel like what should I do? Does that make since? I do want to thank you and others like you who take the time to do this and help others 🙂

    1. Websites will differ based on the level of expertise and experiences of the blogger. Most blogs are run by those sharing their experiences and the information they have gleaned from others. They won’t necessarily talk about the options that are best for everyone. We have to base our choices on our bioindividual needs.

If your son has a histamine intolerance, I would suggest looking into a low histamine version of Autoimmune Paleo (AIP) to see if it fits your needs. A rotation diet is also critical for those with a histamine intolerance. For people with adrenal fatigue or thyroid dysfunction and children, I suggest a moderate intake of starches (plantains, sweet potatoes, yucca, etc.) and organic white rice as long as they are foods that are well-received by the body.

      1. Thank you for the info. I’m so thankful for these blogs, it just gets overwhelming sometime but I know it takes time and patience 🙂 oh and I just realized I misspelled sense ha!

        1. I completely understand! I spent thousands of hours and countless late nights pouring over information on the Internet trying to heal my daughter and my husband. It can drive you crazy when there’s so much conflicting info out there!

  2. Overwhelmed! Yes, couldn’t read a thing most of the time. Then, in desperation, I …, well I ended up seeing a scientist who worked with viruses and all sorts (www.wellnesscare.com.au/coorparoo.html‎ Oh, I am Down Under in Ozzie, Ozzie, Ozzie land). Incidental to the advice he gave me, which was to take Turmeric in hot water with Coconut Oil (or another oil), my daughter Emily had cooked a slow cook lamb meal with Turmeric. The next day was the best day in perhaps years. Ok, what next? Tried and tried. Talked to the scientist. He told me to persist. We talked about the need to use an oil with Turmeric for it to be bioavailable. We spoke about research, successful trials of Turmeric across diseases, the patented product(s?) using piperine, and the 1000s of years Indians have used Turmeric. Oh, that is a thought. Why pay top dollar for products? Why not persist. So I got a stoneware pot and put in a cup of water a good dose of turmeric, coconut oil and cayenne from which piperine is derived. You can do it to taste. I do it in excess as I do not have reflux – beware!

Ok, me: I have had inflammatory conditions with congenital spine deformity, post-viral fatigue and Dercum’s Disease – oh, forgot to mention Gut Dysbiosis, Leaky Gut – you know you have it bad if you have ^& for brains – I would struggle to hold on to a sane thought with extreme, systemic pain and fatigue. It was parallel to vague, full, distended, uncomfortable bowels, a total revulsion to food by sight, shopping parcels of food, etc. I know that there are many different forms of Leaky Gut.

There is a law in medicine Doctors ignore: Ockham’s Razor. It has another name which I cannot recall or find. (William Ockham)

I think that we try a 1000 things. I did. In the name of health. Protesting the obvious evils of our age with additives and poisons, not eating this, following this diet or that. In many cases this is necessary. All I can say is that I am in the early stages of remission of pain and fatigue, but it is oh, so wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is the one thing we should do and why??????? Science may never enlighten us, but I am grateful to God for this one thing I am doing.
