Oooh, your floors are going to look FANTASTIC! I love all of your no-kitchen food ideas, thanks for sharing!
Every week when I get back from grocery shopping, I’ll boil half a dozen eggs. They keep well in the fridge and are great as a grab and go breakfast or snack. There is usually something that I made at the weekend for the week ahead too. This week, it’s gluten free banana loaf and salted crispy mung beans (try ’em! A great alternative to nuts!)
I’m currently looking for new flooring and remembered this post you had done. Did you do all the installation/staining yourself? Where did you get the wood for the floors…wondering if you have any tips for non-toxic wood floors. Thanks a bunch for any advice you can give on this!
We had them professionally done. The company used utility grade white oak, a low VOC stain, and a high quality no VOC sealant that is used on dance room and gymnasium floors. I don’t remember the brands though. We stayed with my in-laws throughout the process and aired out the house for 2 days after the floors were dry before moving back in.
I was also particular about the time of year and made sure that we could open our windows for at least 30 days before any extreme weather (like deep summer or winter) and had 10 houseplants on the main floor to help absorb the residual fumes.
It was sooooo worth it! We love the floors, and it’s so much easier to keep clean with a 6 year old coming in and out all day.

Now that they’re stained and sealed, I’m in love! Thanks Kel. 🙂

The mung beans sound great! I’ll definitely have to test them out for my nutritional therapy clients who can’t have nuts.
These are ideas we can totally use for NTP workshop next month.
Yes!
