  1. Good luck! I recently found your site and admire all you are doing for the sake of your family and self. I have an almost 3 yr old with multiple severe food allergies and seems to constantly react to environmental factors/chemicals/pets etc. Its a damn hard life for us when going anywhere means not only packing all our own food but knowing at any moment she will react to something. My 9 mth old just recently made a huge breakthrough in his severe eczema but is grossly underweight and seems to react to airborne things as well. I briefly tried full gaps for me (as I BF my son) and intro for my older one. It became too stressful to continue even though I read, read, and read some more on GAPS as well as hired a pract. I plan to revisit it after their birthdays in July and hope I can truly stick with it this time. I do have a question for you on testing now that you have some nutritional training under your belt. I see you have done igg testing for you and your daughter. The allergy tests physicians order is the rast tests (Ige). Do you recommend getting the igg over ige? I know you can’t give medical advice but asking more as one food allergic mom to another. Her results for the ige came back so high for several things including egg although I’ve been able to introduce egg yolk with good results (very little but working our way up).

Here’s wishing you a great re-journey on gaps and hope to be right behind you soon.

    1. I would suggest a full allergy panel that tests for both IgE and IgG allergies. This will tell you the type of allergy, the severity, and which ones are more likely to be healed. For any allergens that test high and aren’t a mistake of the test, I recommend staying away from a minimum of 1-2 years along with following a gut healing protocol.

Hopefully, GAPS will be easier for you this time around since you have some experience under your belt and a practitioner to work with. I wish you much luck!

  2. I am eager to do this with you. Here’s a nagging concern, however: our family will be traveling for 3.5 out of 5 weeks this June and July. Would it be self-defeating to begin GAPS now and know that those weeks it will be impossible to continue religiously? I’d hate to go through the intensity of change and begin healing only to have progress thrown out the window in another month and a half! Our three children and I all have healing needs (and probably my husband too, but not til he’s ready ;).

    1. I think full GAPS is very doable while traveling as long as you plan in advance. Summer is a great time for it, because there’s easy access to fruits and veggies everywhere. We used to ‘eat out’ at Whole Foods when everything else was off limits due to my daughter’s allergies. You can even eat some lunch meat and hot dogs like some selections from Applegate Farms. Poke around with a Google search and you’ll find a lot of blog posts dedicated to traveling while on GAPS! Just don’t try intro while traveling. It may make you go insane. 😉

      1. You are very kind to answer my and every one else’s comments/questions. Thank you for the help–I SO appreciate it!
