  1. I too thank you for this post. I’ve been on a 3 year journey to get well from my health issues. Like you, I’ve made some great strides but the major overlying symptoms are still there. I often feel alone with what I’m dealing with as none of my family or friends truly understand what I’m going through.

    1. You’re in good company here Cristin! I didn’t start making major strides until I began treating myself as a nutritional therapy client. It has made such a HUGE difference in the last few months.

  2. You might want to also check out “Stop the thyroid madness”, depressed adrenals, and hormone replacement therapy for healthy people over 40 (if it applies).

  3. Thank you for this blog. I have been labeled a hypochondriac, myself, and it sucks. Most of the time I do not bother going to the doctor because I know there is nothing they can do. I just get on the internet and hope I can figure it out. I have to blend my food most of the time because my gallbladder tested at 3% function a few years ago, but I was dealing with a B12 deficiency and was WAY too weak to even consider having the surgery. And I was hospitalized for acute kidney failure from an electrolyte imbalance 3 years ago, and ever since then I have struggled to keep up my electrolytes on a daily basis all throughout the day. And as of recent, it felt like something was eating away at my esophagus even though I was taking a high-potency probiotic, I had to start a different probiotic which has been helping, which is good, because my esophagus lining feels so thin, it is scary. VERY SCARY. I am on the GAPS diet right now. I eat some apples, dates, and bananas to keep up my sugar which I’ve been struggling with, and then I have beef, chicken, and fish for my meals, or eggs. And I snack on coconut butter, avocados or palm kern oil. I boil vegetables and drink the water with the leeched minerals to keep up my electrolyte balance. I hope things get better really soon!

    1. Oh Vanessa, I’m so sorry that you are having such a struggle with your health. It’s sad how common such severe symptoms of chronic generational malnutrition are these days.

Probiotics aren’t designed to digest the food in your stomach, but to repopulate your gut with beneficial microbiota. You can read through my series on healing digestion to learn more about the proper workings of the digestive system and how to properly supplement it (it’s an easier read than Gut and Psychology Syndrome): http://www.20somethingallergies.com/healing-digestion-restoring-mucous-layer/.

I work with many people who deal with severe symptoms that doctors just don’t understand. I’m not sure if you are able to work with a holistic practitioner, but I would be happy to talk more with you if so. You can e-mail me at jennifer AT 20somethingallergies DOT com if you’d like to learn more.
